This privacy page explains how How Long Till Christmas uses analytics, advertising, cookies, consent choices, and contact messages. It is written for visitors to the site, and it should be read alongside the terms and editorial policy.
Who is responsible for this site
How Long Till Christmas is the site name used for this countdown and guide website. Privacy questions, access requests, correction requests, and complaints can be sent to [email protected].
Information processed
The live countdown runs in your browser. The site does not need an account, a form profile, or a saved personal calendar to show the countdown. Server logs, security systems, Cloudflare, Google advertising, and optional analytics may process technical information such as IP address, browser type, approximate location, device type, pages viewed, referral source, and timestamps.
If you use the Christmas planner, completed checklist items are stored only in this browser under a functional storage key. The checklist does not contain names or free-text notes, and its saved progress is not sent to the site, Google Analytics, or advertising providers.
Analytics
When analytics is enabled, Google Analytics 4 helps measure aggregate visits, pages viewed, approximate location, device type, referral source, and site interactions such as share clicks or planner-print clicks. Analytics storage is only enabled after consent is given in the privacy choices shown to your browser.
Advertising
This site uses Google advertising. Google and other ad technology providers used through Google may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses, or similar identifiers to serve ads, measure ad performance, limit how often an ad is shown, protect against fraud and abuse, and personalize ads when your consent and settings allow it.
Google explains how it uses information from sites that use its services at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. You can control personalized ads in Google Ads Settings, and you can use AdChoices WebChoices to manage choices for participating advertising companies.
Personalized ads may use previous activity to choose more relevant ads. Non-personalized ads are based on context such as the page being viewed or broad location, but may still use cookies or similar identifiers for frequency capping, aggregated ad reporting, and fraud prevention.
Consent
Where required, a Google consent message may ask for advertising choices before ads are personalized. In other cases, the site's privacy choices let you accept or decline optional analytics and advertising storage. Your choice is stored in your browser so it can be remembered. You can reopen cookie settings from the footer.
Retention and sharing
Consent choices and planner progress stay in your browser until you change or reset them, clear browser storage, or use another browser or device. Google Analytics event data is retained for up to 14 months. Contact emails are kept only for as long as needed to handle the message, correction, privacy request, or site issue. Technical logs and security records may be kept for a limited period to protect the site and investigate abuse.
Information may be processed by service providers that help run, secure, measure, and monetize the site, including hosting infrastructure, Cloudflare, Google Analytics, Google advertising services, and email providers. These providers may process information under their own terms and privacy notices.
Your choices and rights
You can decline optional analytics and advertising storage, change cookie settings from the footer, adjust Google ad settings, use browser privacy controls, or contact the site about privacy questions. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or a copy of personal data connected with you.
If you are in the UK and are unhappy with how a privacy concern is handled, you can contact the Information Commissioner's Office. Please email [email protected] first so the issue can be checked directly.
